Why Benjamit is on the short list.

Pattaya is not a roaster town the way Chiang Mai is. A handful of cafes actually roast the beans they pour; most buy them in. Benjamit sits on the short list of the ones that do — the name turns up alongside Albatross and Sunset whenever the question of who genuinely roasts in Pattaya gets asked with any seriousness.

Across English- and Thai-language reviews the picture is consistent. Benjamit reads as long-established rather than newly built for the digital-nomad wave, run by an owner-roaster who can talk about the beans without reaching for a script. The room gets called “Italian” more than once — espresso-forward, unfussy, built around the bar rather than the camera. The order that recurs is an espresso flight, pastries alongside.

Whether the cup lives up to the reputation — the extraction, the consistency from one visit to the next, the price held against the ฿฿ tier — is the part we have not verified. This page is a research preview. The notes above are cross-sourced from TripAdvisor, the wheretodrink.coffee specialty index, Pattaya Prestige Properties and thailandnomads.com. None of that is a substitute for sitting at the bar twice and paying both bills.

What the audit checks. Two anonymous visits minimum, paid in full, no comped drinks. We score craft (is the espresso actually good), consistency (does it hold on an unannounced second visit), value (the cup against the price), and return frequency (would an editor come back without the notebook). The full entry — verdict, scorecard, room notes, amenities and FAQ — publishes with Issue 01, in the same template as the Albatross entry.

Order first: the espresso flight. On a roaster’s home turf it is the fastest read on their range — and worth asking what came off the roaster most recently.
